Henley FestivalHenley Festival is one of the UK’s largest mixed art form festivals programming work from classical and contemporary music through to street theatre, comedy, art and sculpture.

The annual summertime event takes place on a 3.5 acre open air site adjacent to the River Thames – the same facilities used by the Henley Royal Regatta. The Festival runs a substantial year-round education and outreach programme, the two headline projects being music therapy work undertaken with the brain injured at the local Townlands Hospital and a large scale annual schools project that goes under the name of SHOUT! Colin Riley’s PRSF supported commission forms a major part of the festival’s 2007/8 project, a mould breaking initiative whereby the Festival (with major support from the Henley Festival Trust) has purchased an entire orchestra – 50 brand new instruments which it is giving on free loan to 50 new starter musicians whose lessons are also being supported by the festival. The new starter orchestra’s first public appearance will take place on 12 July 2008 as part of Henley’s festivities at which the orchestra, together with its group of 10 professional champions (or ‘tutors’ to you and me), will perform Colin’s new work.
