Candidate’s profile
Those invited to apply are non-French artists, principally professionals, who do not normally reside in Paris and whish to undertake a production, research or training residence in Paris.
Candidates must
- Have Completed their initial training
- Be engaged professionally or be undergoing complementary specialization training
- Be younger than 35 years of age
- Have proof of previous works
Residency location
Situated in Paris, the CIUP is an international residence for students, researchers and artists of more than 120 nationalities. It includes 37 houses distributed in a wooded park with their collective amenities: library, cultural program (theatre, dance, concerts and exhibitions) sports activities (of which swimming pool and tennis), restaurants and a French language learning area. It is a place for exchange between cultures, of intellectual debate and creation.
Residence Facilities
The expenses related to housing, workspace and meals must be dealt with by the artists.
- 30 m2 triplex : accommodation and sound-proof work space - 655-675 euros/month

- accommodation only – from 465 euros/month (in addition : access to rehearsal studios possible for special prices)
Technical facilities
Rehearsal studios (single studios with or without piano, sound-proof studios equipped for amplified music, large studios).
Duration of stay
From 3 to 12 months between October 2008 and August 2009
Support
The artists accepted at the cité internationale universitaire de Paris profit from personalized support throughout their stay. Logistic and administrative help, information and introduction to the Parisian cultural practitioners can be organised.
Resident artists have the possibility (through selection) of participating in the artistic programme of CitéCulture. Depending in their projects, artists may have the benefit of a concert space, circulation, help with the production and PR.
Selection process
The candidates are selected by a jury made up of the representatives of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, of partner cultural institutions and of professionals from the Parisian artistic milieu.
The final results will be sent out by mail.
