Unsigned Winners 2005

Monkeytribe

MonkeytribeMonkeytribe are a Glasgow based act producing unique and original hip-hop, breakbeat and dance music. With 5 years of gigs under their belts, commendations from acts such as Moby, The Orb, PM Dawn, Dilated Peoples, Techno Animal, ADF and interest from labels and radio stations in Japan, Europe and the USA, Monkeytribe are slowly gaining a reputation they deserve for their soulful, melodic, yet gritty, hard hitting and cutting edge music.

With politically motivated themes, dirty basslines and fast beats, this is one of the UK's original masters of mayhem with an exuberant live set that always kicks off in a big way.

Thee Comrades

Thee ComradesEdinburgh four piece Thee Comrades have come a long way in a short period of time. Their quirky brand of new wave pop has taken the Edinburgh public by storm since their first gig in June 2004 and they have gone from strength to strength. Taking influences from bands such as the Futureheads, Blondie, Bloc Party and XTC as well as cues from the realms of classical music greats, their music achieves a quirky charm lost on many bands who seem more interested in their haircuts than their songs.
