PRS Foundation and Bliss Trust boost support for new music talent.

14 October 2002

The Bliss Trust and PRS Foundation (PRSF) have launched a new funding scheme to support emerging composers. The scheme is aimed at composers seeking funds to assist their professional development in the field of classical music.

Funds will be offered for the support of promotional recordings, travel, study at a summer school or computer equipment.

Sarah Faulder, Chair of the Bliss Trust commented:

"Sir Arthur Bliss was Master of the Queen's Musick and a former President of the Performing Right Society and he was well-known as an active champion of young composers. The Bliss Trust is delighted to be working with the PRS Foundation to provide this new initiative, which reflects Bliss's own lifelong encouragement of the new and adventurous in contemporary composition."

David Francis, Manager of the PRS Foundation added:

“Whilst many of PRSF's grants indirectly support classical composers, this partnership has created a chance for composers to apply directly for financial assistance to help them progress with their musical careers. The PRS Foundation is delighted to be working in partnership with the Bliss Trust as both organisations have a mutual commitment to supporting innovation and talent within the UK's new music community”.

For further details about the scheme, including application forms, procedures and criteria for applying, please visit the PRS Foundation website: www.prsf.co.uk or call the PRS Foundation Administrator on 020 7306 4044.
